Charity Auction - Self Portrait

Sir Geoff Hurst, together with other celebrities including Quentin Blake, Ranulph Fiennes and Jamie Oliver, have been getting creative for The Prince's Foundation for Children and the Arts.

Face Britain is a project set up by the Prince's Foundation with the aim of raising money and awareness for the Foundation as part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Celebrations.

From the 3rd - 13th May, the 34 portraits will be going to auction on Ebay together with a further 19 from well known British artists.

School children have also been hard at work painting their own self portraits to help break a world record. Each child's painting will become part of an image of the Queen which will be beamed onto on the front of Buckingham Palace. The 100,000 contributors will gain a place in the Guinness Book of World Records, beating the current record of 28,267 artists working on a single installation. You'll be able to see the projection on Buckingham Palace from the 19th to the 21st of April.

So, if you have some spare cash or you want to start your art collection with an original, place your bid on a Face Britain portrait on Ebay between the 3rd - 13th May.

Sir Geoff Hurst

Sir Geoff Hurst MBE secured a unique place in the history of football in 1966 when he became the first and, for more than 56 years, the only player to score a hat-trick in a World Cup Final.

Sir Geoff says that he 'had a great run', nevertheless he remains the only player to score a 'perfect' hat-trick and the only to be on the World Cup winning team.

Knighted in 1998 and inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame in 2004, Sir Geoff holds a special place in the hearts of football fans across the world and, perhaps surprisingly, this includes Germany!
